Australian Census 2021
The 18th Australian Census of Population and Housing will take place on the night of Tuesday 10th August 2021.
The Census measures the number and key characteristics of people in Australia during the Census period. Census data is used by people and organisations all over Australia to plan for services and infrastructure such as roads childcare hospitals and schools for every community in our nation.
The Census includes every person including overseas visitors in Australia Norfolk Island the Territories of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island on Census night.

If you would like to order a paper Census form you can call our automated Paper Form Request System on 1300 820 275. You need your 12-digit Census Login which you can find in the middle of your Census letter.

2020 Census Test
Census Test night is Tuesday 27 October 2020.
Around 100000 households from selected suburbs in Sydney Adelaide Darwin and Canberra as well as regional centres of Karratha Warrnambool and surrounds will be invited to participate.
The Census Test helps us prepare for the next Census in 2021. It's important to test how we will run the Census to make sure it is easy for people to complete runs efficiently and produces quality statistics.
